Our story

Who we are

Actium is a machine Pilates (Reformer) studio in the centre of Ibiza town, with a clinical approach. It comes from Physiumibz, the physiotherapy clinic of Álvaro Miguel de la Rosa. Groups of six at most, and an initial assessment before joining any group.

Where we come from

For 17 years, mat Pilates was taught inside the clinic, with no visibility. The project moved to a space of its own: visible, accessible, better equipped and exclusively for our members.

Actium opened in May 2026 at Carrer de Canàries 24, in Ibiza town. Almost 30 mat students came over to Actium from the first day. Those who have made the move from the mat to the machine are the biggest fans.

The space

• Six reformers.
• Groups of six people at most, with a professional supervising.
• 55-minute classes.
• Morning classes Monday to Saturday, afternoon classes Monday to Friday.

The machines give versatility. Every spring is a resistance and a challenge. Every colour, a level. Pilates here is not simply a class: it is a therapeutic tool and a way to move better. We stay well away from rooms of fifteen or twenty reformers under a red light.

The team

Bea Comes, physiotherapist, registration no. 7023. A dancer since she was little. She came to Pilates to improve as a dancer and to help her patients recover.

Yolanda Ortiz, Pilates instructor and therapeutic exercise specialist. 10 years teaching in Ibiza. Trained at Polestar, endorsed by the PMA, with a Master’s from UCAM. Specialised in pregnancy and postpartum, and chronic low back pain.

How we work

What makes us different is the care for detail before you get on the machine. We want to know what is going on with you (questionnaire), we watch how you move and we recommend your group. Here nobody starts in a group without going through the assessment first.

After the assessment we agree with you the level that suits you best and the days you want to come. It is reviewed and adjusted as you progress.

Who it is for

Actium is a place for local people. In Ibiza, local people run on trust, and that is who we are for. For those starting out and for those already at an advanced level: the assessment puts each person in the right group.

Reformer adapted to pregnancy, in a small group. Before starting, a health questionnaire and an initial assessment. Where necessary, we ask for authorisation from the healthcare professional looking after the pregnancy.

The classes are not physiotherapy treatment and do not replace a consultation with a healthcare professional.

The name

The name is a statement of intent: Actium is active, movement, action. The ending “um” is a nod to Physium.
